Through this initiative, we will develop two new programs at the Nagasaki Ocean Academy: the “Fisheries Coexistence Course” and the “O&M (Operation & Maintenance) Course”, which are scheduled to launch in FY2026 and FY2027, respectively.
These two courses address critical challenges directly related to assessing the feasibility of offshore area use and achieving the target ratio of domestic procurement after project implementation. They have been highly anticipated by both participants and industry stakeholders.
The Fisheries Coexistence Course will cover essential topics needed to build cooperative relationships with local stakeholders such as fishers in the early stages of offshore wind development. Topics will include oceanography, fisheries science, laws and systems related to the fishing industry, and case studies from various regions.
The O&M Course is planned to include an overview of O&M (Operation & Maintenance), domestic and international trends, and explanations of relevant Japanese laws—all essential for ensuring stable and long-term operation after projects go online.
Please stay tuned—we appreciate your patience until the courses are launched!
